Trio that offers a blend of innovative and explosive sound, progressive jazz and funk-rock expressed in a singular condensed "rational-abstract approach", however, characterized by an impetuous and passionate development of  musical structures . Visionary and utopian music that suggests free imaginary scenarios and prepares the interaction between artistic languages of different nature, synesthetic.Improvisation is the means by which the trio deconstructs the  forms, designing different sound configurations and concocting different perceptual solutions that make this musical journey really thrilling, dreamy but essentially concrete.The special hybrid instrumental line-up, sax-guitar-drums, the references to jazz, the 'Vanguard European, Prog-Rock ,make this work even more compelling .

 

C.O.D. Trio has been touring twice in the U.S.(May/June 2010 and April 2011) receiving positive responses from american audience.

During the second tour they met up with John Patitucci and decided to envolve him in a parallel project on Monk's music.

They eventually came out with a recording released in early 2012, Monk's Mind produced by Italian record label Music Center.

Biagio Coppa (sax)

Musician who developed his style over improvised music based on afro-american idiomatic expressions. Especially M-base by Steve Coleman and Ornette Coleman’s “Harmolodic” concept .Moreover he considers essential, these days, to have an experience about materials and techniques of “Twentieth-Century Music” (Schonberg, Weber, Kagel, Feldman,Cage,Bolouez etc..), to build a peculiar musical language and create your own contemporary personal “sound”.

Since 1997 he is Artistic and Project Director of “Flight Band”,

 

As orchestra leader and conductor he uses the “Sound Painting” technique, the art of live composition, by Walter Thompson.

Gabriele Orsi (guitar)

Starting from 1993 he turned to Jazz. At that time, he attended Berklee summer school in Perugia Umbria Jazz .Since then he has been playing with several Jazz bands in North Italy

 

among his collaborations he had been playing with artists such as Attilio Zanchi, Yuri Goloubev, Beppe Caruso, Joey De Francesco , Carmen Staaf,  John Patitucci..

 

In 2007 he recorded his first solo CD “Mr. T.” (Music Center) with Joey De Francesco on hammond.

 

Francesco Di Lenge (drums)

In 1996 after achieving  a scholarship, he moved to the  U.S. to attend BERKLEE College of Music.

During four years of staying  he has toured and recorded with several bands.

Berklee has been very important for his musical education, he had the chance to study with drummers such as  KENWOOD DENNARD, CASEY SCHEUERELL, ED URIBE, STEVE WILKES, JAMEY HADDAD                                                                                                           

 In 2000  he moved back to Italy .

Since then he  has been working as a sessions man and toured all over Italy, Europe and U.S.A.

Trio che propone un innovativa miscela esplosiva di cumuli sonori Jazz progressive e funk-rock espressi in un singolare condensato approccio “razionale-astratto” caratterizzato però da uno sviluppo delle strutture musicali impetuoso e passionale. Musica visionaria e utopista che suggerisce liberi scenari immaginari e predispone all’interazione tra linguaggi artistici di natura diversa, sinestetica .
L’improvvisazione è il mezzo con il quale il trio destruttura le forme ideando in ogni concerto differenti configurazioni sonore ed architettando diverse soluzioni percettive che rendono il percorso musicale realmente avventuroso, sensibilmente onirico ma sostanzialmente concreto.
La particolare ed ibrida formazione strumentale, sax-chitarra-batteria, i riferimenti al Jazz, all’ Avanguardia Europea, al Rock-Prog rendono questa opera ancora più convincente.

 

Il Trio è stato in tour per due volte negli Stati Uniti (maggio / giugno 2010 e aprile 2011) ricevendo consensi dal pubblico americano.

Durante il secondo tour iltrio si è incontrato con John Patitucci ,decidendo in seguito di sviluppare un progetto parallelo sulla musica di Monk.

Il Progetto si è poi concretizzatoin un Album uscito nei primi mesi del 2012, Monk's Mind prodotto dalla casa discografica italiana Music Center.

Nel 1996, dopo aver ottenuto una borsa di studio, si trasferisce negli U.S.A. per frequentare il Berklee College of Music.

Durante i quattro anni di permanenza ha girato e registrato con diverse band.

La Berklee è stata molto importante per la sua formazione musicale, ha avuto la possibilità di studiare con batteristi queli KENWOOD DENNARD, CASEY SCHEUERELL, DE URIBE, STEVE WILKES, JAMEY HADDAD e molti altri.

Nel 2000 si trasferisce in Italia.

Da allora ha lavorato come session man e live performer, in tutta Italia, Europa e U.S.A.
